Yes it is! Cinco de Mayo was created by Mexicans and Latin-Americans in California in response to the American Civil War. The holiday commemorates the Mexican army’s against-the-odds victory on May 5th, 1862, over the French at the Battle of Puebla.
On Thursday, May 5th 2011, there will be a score of different events going on all around Tampa , and all in celebration of Cinco de Mayo.
The Viva Cerveza! Cinco de Mayo at World of Beer event is a two day event starting on May 4th, with legendary musician Roberto DeBourg performing live. On May 5th at 3pm, there will be a Hot Pepper Eating Contest, a Most Interesting Man in the World Contest, and a performance by the (also) legendary Matt Winter. On both days there will be heavy discounts on Mexican imported beers, including Dos XX Amber, Dos XX Lager, Sol, Tecate, Pacifico, Negra Modelo, and Corona.
Best of all, the World of Beer is only a 20 minute drive from Willow Brooke.
Come down to Viva Cerveza! and have a sublime time….in moderation!
